Colty Steele scrolled down the page on her online
newspaper. A particular headline
had caught her eye.
Four Drown in
She shook her head slowly as she read the article. “Hmm,” she murmured. She reached for her phone. Perhaps it was time to give Karla a call and take her up on that invitation. The Russian girl had asked her over for dinner. There was a bit more that she wanted to know about the girl’s relationship with Star Eagle.
There were also some irregularities about her first encounter with Karla and the heroine that needed clearing up. For example how had the heroine managed to materialize out of nowhere just in time to save the day? And what had become of the blonde girl Karla had been with when the plane had slammed into the beach? Colty’s memory was a bit hazy, but she was sure that there had been another girl there when she had arrived.
“Who was that?” asked Melissa, as Karla hung up the phone.
“The female PI we ran into on the beach in
Melissa frowned. “She’s a detective so she probably figured something out. But she seemed nice. Maybe we should just tell her about us.”
“Tell her about you, you mean,” Karla replied. “Are you sure? We don’t want too many people knowing your secret identity.
Melissa nodded. “I think we can trust her. She could have gone straight to the police after I towed those goons out to sea, but she said nothing.”
“Maybe,” Karla said. “I guess we’ll find out when she gets here.”
Melissa snuggled down on the couch. She picked up the remote and turned on the TV. It was time for her favourite show. “You go girl,” she murmured.
